WHY CHOOSE EDO?

WE ARE YOUR NEIGHBOURS.

It’s not just about what we make, but how we make it. This project is personal. We are designers and tailors who value short distances and long-term partnerships. Just like us, we want our goods to travel by bike whenever possible. As a small local business with a studio and showroom in Berlin Kreuzberg, we’re here for you—ready to help and let you experience our garments firsthand. We keep stock on hand to guarantee same-day bike messenger delivery for our Berlin customers.

WE’VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR A WHILE.

With over 10 years of experience as freelance designers, pattern makers, production managers, and business owners, we bring a wealth of expertise to the table. We’ve spent the last 7 years diving into industrial surplus fabrics and upcycling, collaborating with production houses across Europe and serving clients around the world.

WE BELIEVE IN QUALITY BASICS.

Getting dressed is easy if you can rely on beautiful, long-lasting quality basics and your favorite printed tees. Let’s be honest: a lot of merch out there is poorly made under questionable conditions. Our pieces are different. They fit better, feel better, and are made better. Because we see quality merch as a canvas for creatives, a form of self-expression, and a long-term investment—a lifetime memory for your customers.

WE ARE SMALL, INDEPENDENT, AND MINIMALIST.

We don’t have a CEO pushing us to go faster, cheaper, and bigger. Our goal is to strip down to the essentials and perfect them. We focus on crafting the best t-shirt and hoodie, sometimes refining our designs but never chasing trends. By sticking to timeless pieces, we continuously improve quality while staying affordable.

WE’RE NOT THE CHEAPEST, AND THAT’S OKAY.
We’re hands-on in every detail of our design, production and sales process. As trained tailors, we know how much effort goes into crafting even a simple t-shirt—more than most realize. Being small, independent, and committed to fair practices comes with a price. We respect our long-term partners’ rates and don’t benefit from mass discounts. We work exclusively with small, family-owned businesses (2nd and 3rd generation). Using industrial surplus fabrics involves extensive research and naturally leads to limited runs of just 20 to 100 pieces. It’s a lot of effort, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

WE STAY FLEXIBLE & UPCYCLE WHAT WE FIND.

Sustainability demands creativity, and we embrace it by upcycling high-quality materials—whether conventional, synthetic, or organic. We focus on repurposing industrial overstocks that would otherwise go to waste. This means our product range evolves naturally, and stock levels may vary, but every item meets our rigorous standards for durability and quality. We collaborate with trusted European manufacturers and our GOTS-certified partner in Turkey to create upcycled B2B blanks and merch. Very few companies are as dedicated to this approach, and we’re proud to share our expertise and services with our customers.

FINISHING
TECHNIQUES

– A BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Over the years, we’ve established a curated local network for various finishing techniques.

We’re happy to connect you with our trusted printing and embroidery partners or help you finalize your designs.

Here’s a quick rundown of the most popular finishing methods:

SCREEN PRINTING

Textile screen printing is a technique where ink is pressed through a fine mesh screen onto fabric to create designs. A stencil and photoreactive emulsion are used to block out areas where the ink should not pass through, allowing only the desired pattern to be printed. This method is popular for creating vibrant, durable designs on clothing and other textiles.
If a design has more than one color, it must be divided into individual color layers. This involves creating a separate stencil for each color in the design, which allows the colors to be layered accurately during printing. The screens are aligned, so that each layer of ink is applied in the correct position. This ensures that the final print is vibrant and precise, with the colors blending or overlapping as intended.
Usually, 12 colors are the absolute maximum; shades can be achieved using special halftone screens. The more screens used, the more complex and expensive the process becomes.
Each screen has fixed preparation costs, making screen printing more cost-effective at higher quantities.

SCREEN PRINTING TRANSFER

Transfer printing involves printing on a plastic foil. This foil can be stored, cut into pieces, and applied with a heat press whenever needed. We use and recommend this method for printing neck labels or customizing small quantities on demand.

DIGITAL DIRECT TO GARMENT

Digital Direct to Garment (DTG) printing is a process where designs are printed directly onto fabric using specialized inkjet printers. Unlike traditional methods like screen printing, DTG doesn’t require screens or stencils. Instead, digital files (like photos) are used to print the design directly onto the garment, allowing for high-resolution, full-color prints with intricate details. The inks used in DTG are water-based and absorb into the fabric, resulting in a soft finish. This method is particularly well-suited for small runs, custom orders, or designs with many colors and details, offering flexibility and quick turnaround times (but also comes with a higher price tag).

DIGITAL TRANSFER

Digital transfer works similarly to digital screen printing by printing on a foil that can later be transferred to fabric with heat and pressure.

EMBROIDERY

Textile embroidery is a process of decorating fabric by stitching patterns or designs onto it using a needle and thread. This can be done manually or with an embroidery machine, which automates the process for more complex or repeated designs. Embroidery is known for its durability and textured, raised appearance, making it a popular choice for logos, monograms, and decorative elements on clothing, accessories, and home textiles.
