“How can I buy your plain T-Shirts??”
– our friends kept asking about our B2B whitelabel and textile production agency BLANK GARMENT.
So we asked our selves – why don’t we take our network, patterns, own style and knowledge about all these precious deadstock materials out there and start our own label? That’s how EDO was born. First a working title of our initials, it soon became a philosophy by coincidence: It happened that our first deadstock fabrics were from Japan and reflected the beautiful colours and mood of one the Haikus that Elisa read at that time in the Book of Tea by Kakuzō Okakura:
Eine Gruppe Sommerbäume,
ein Streifen Meer,
ein blasser Abendmond.
A cluster of summer trees,
A bit of the sea,
A pale evening moon.
And of course we found out about the time period named after the former Tokio – EDO – the longest period of peace in Japanese history. A time, when arts and culture could flourish. And so we wanted to learn more …
